A trip into the bowels of a manufacturing cellar of Cava, made by the most international Catalan producer.

Spend a morning in a truly unique and personal visit. Meet our guide to take the rail to move to the center of Catalonia, where it is located - 45 minutes from Barcelona - the PENEDÈS wine region.  It seems that the time has stopped in this natural environment, full of tradition and vineyards. Thanks to the influence of the sun and the Mediterranean Sea, the Penedès has one of the widest varieties of grapes in any wine region in the world.
You will enter in this idyllic spot with the local train while our guide explains you about the features of the area and the importance of its wines.

We will stop in SANT SADURNÍ D’ANOIA, where in their fields the most international Catalan product is obtained: the Cava. Here you will discover the origins of this sparkling wine - equivalent to the French champagne - in an entertaining journey through the history and culture of the town.

Firstly, we will visit FREIXENET, one of the most traditional cellars of the country, whose origins date back to 1861. You will dive into the history of the legendary company, one of the largest producers of cava in the world, and its guides will explain you everything about the cava production process, from the first pressing of the grapes to the secondary fermentation. In turn, you will see how technology has adapted to the traditional method, on a train ride for its extensive underground facilities.

Finally, as is to be expected, Freixenet will offer you the chance to taste the different Cava of the house. Maybe you would love to purchase some exemplary in its store "Dolores Ferrer" which houses an assortment of products to meet the diverse palates.

A short walking tour through the center of Sant Sadurní ends to show the importance of Cava in the historical development of the area - there are more than 80 local producers spread over the streets -. The boom in wine production in the late nineteenth century is reflected in the beautiful modernist facades of the buildings from the center of the town.

The morning will end in ‘LA FASSINA’ CAVA WELCOME CENTER, a former distillery that now proposes, in its historical spaces, an interactive journey through the history and culture of Sant Sadurní. Here you will understand why this town lives for the cava for more than a century. ‘La Fassina’ offers 1,200 square meters journey through the world of cava, its art of life and spirit of celebration: "...  enjoy Sant Sadurní and its architectural heritage interactively , live the Feast of phylloxera in large format, see grow a strain in your eyes .... "
